unashamed dependence

Last week, at Bible study, we were discussing circumstances in your life where you knew God showed up in a very obvious way and you knew beyond a shadow of doubt that it was Him. Big ways, small ways, things that wouldn’t matter to some of us. But He is always working. Working everything together for good, is what He tells us. And according to His purpose. Not ours.

So today, with my mind and emotions and activities going a wee bit crazy, I opened up Jesus Calling by Sarah Young. {Side note: if you don’t have this devotional, GO GET IT. Uh-mazing.} And I heard God speak to me loud and clear, as if He had put both gentle hands on each side of my face and turned it toward Him.

She wrote (from Jesus’ point of view):
“When some basic need is lacking – time, energy, money – consider yourself blessed. Your very lack is an opportunity to latch onto me in unashamed dependence…Awareness of your inadequacy is a rich blessing, training you to rely wholeheartedly on Me…Rejoice in your insufficiency, knowing that My power is made perfect in weakness.”

Thank you, Papa, for reminding me of this.
